HOW DO I RETRIEVE A FORGOTTEN PASSWORD?

Click on
PASSWORD and follow the instructions.

I COULDN'T RETRIEVE MY USER/PW OR MY USUAL USER/PW DOESN'T WORK ANYMORE - WHAT'S UP?

If you received a blank email when you requested your username/pw, or if your usual login isn't working anymore, the account may have been removed because it did not conform to our site standards.

Due to concerns that were raised by Google indexing information that people were putting in the "Additional Experience" section, we have recently deleted accounts that did not contain any properly inputted credits. These accounts were considered blank, or not conforming to the standards of the site as described below.

Realitystaff is powered by the data that you input as your actual credits into your Realitystaff resume -- that is the way that employers are able to view your credits. If you would still like to use our service, and we hope that you will, we request that you create a new account and take a bit of time to input your credits so that you will benefit the most from the site. And please make sure not to put any contact information in the "Additional Experience" section.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

OTHER LOGIN PROBLEMS

Three suggestions:
1) Try logging out and signing in again.
2) Try using a different browser to sign in.
3) Try using a different computer.

POSTING A JOB

Log into your  account, and click on the "Post a Job" link in the left-hand column.

You may post as many job openings as you want. The job is posted within 30 minutes, once it is reviewed. Registered realitystaff.com users can browse the job listings and apply for the job . Resumes are not sent to the employer by email; instead, all the names of the people who apply are listed on a page that allows you to browse their realitystaff.com resumes and contact them directly if their qualifications match the your needs.

Once you post a job, that job will be listed on your "My Job Postings" page, which lists all of your job postings. You can check to see who has responded to the job on the “My Job Postings” page, and you can also edit or remove each one of your postings here.

SEEING WHO HAS APPLIED TO THE JOB YOU POSTED

Applicants do not attach resumes, nor do they fax or call you. You view their resumes on the site.
- Log in to your account.
- Click on "My Job Postings" in the left-hand column.
- Click on the job title of each job posting.
- You will see a list of everyone who has applied to that job.

WHAT JOBS CANNOT BE POSTED?

We will post any paying production job, but we will not post unpaid positions.
We will not post any casting notices.

HOW DO I KNOW IF I AM A PREMIUM MEMBER?

Here's how you'll know if you are registered and signed in as a premium member:
On the Realitystaff.com home page, click on "Find a job." When you are directed to the next page, if you see "my favorites" and "my job applications" in the left hand menu, it means you are a premium member. Also, you'll see a text box that lets you write a cover letter if you click on any job and then click on "Apply for this job."

HOW DO I CANCEL MY PREMIUM MEMBERSHIP?

Make sure you are signed in first, and then, from any page, click on "My Account" in the left-hand navigation bar (or
CLICK HERE).
Then click on "Cancel Membership."
If you just signed up for a year, for example, and you don't want the subscription to automatically renew next year, you should do this "Cancel Membership" step. You will still be a PREMIUM member for the whole year that you paid for, even if you "Cancel the Membership" -- it just means it won't renew.

Once your subscription does expire, you will still be a member of the site and you will still have all of the non-premium member priviliges. Your resume data WILL be preserved and you can still apply to jobs, just not as a Premium Member (i.e. no cover letter, no list of jobs you have previously applied to, etc.).
The best news is that if you decide to sign up AGAIN as a Premium Member at a later date, the previous information is RETAINED -- so you will be able to pick up from where you left off as a Premium Member.

GOOGLE SEARCH RESULTS AND REALITYSTAFF

Google CANNOT see the contact information that you enter as part of your MAIN contact information.

Periodically, a user writes to inform us that he/she has seen his/her contact information returned as a result in a Google search. This usually happens when someone has cut and paste their information into the "Additional Experience" field on their resume, which we strongly advise against doing for this reason. If you have done this, you should edit your credits (go to "My Account" ) and remove the contact information from the "Additional Experience" field. Occasionally, if someone else has listed your contact information as a reference in their "Additional Experience" section, that may show up in a Google result as well. In this case, you should contact this person about removing your personal information from their resume.

Once you have updated your credits, it usually takes Google a while to un-index this information. The time frame is beyond our control, and we suggest that you contact Google if you are having any addiitonal issues.

RECEIVING JOB ALERTS

In order to receive job notifications, you must be a registered user. You can
REGISTER HERE if you haven't already.

Then go to twitter.com/realityjobs and "Follow" us, and/or go to http://www.facebook.com/realitystaff and "Like" us in order to receive job alerts the moment that they are published.

SEARCHING AND APPLYING FOR A JOB

Log in to your account, and click on "Find a Job" in the navigation menu on the left-hand side of the page (or
CLICK HERE)

The JOBS page lists all available jobs -- the job title, the start date, the company and network, and the # of weeks that the job lasts. By default, the list is sorted by most recent job posted -- but you can click on the column header "Job Title" or the column header "Location" to sort the list that way.

Clicking on any one of the job titles gives you more information about the position, and allows you to apply for the job (you also are given the option to write a cover letter if you are a premium member).

When you apply for the job, the employer receives a link to your Realitystaff.com resume, and your cover letter (if you have written one). The employer will contact you directly if your qualifications match his/her needs.

SEARCHING FOR SOMEONE

Log in to your account, and click on "Find Someone" in the navigation menu on the left-hand side of the page (or
CLICK HERE)

You can search 3 different ways:

Search by show name allows you to the name of a show and find the people who are in the database who worked on that show. If you enter "Amazing Race" it will then show you a list of all of the people who worked on ALL seasons of that show -- or enter "Amazing Race 3" just to see people who worked on that season. Clicking on an individual person's name will show you that person's full resume and contact information.

Search by on-screen credit will bring up a list of everyone in the database who has received a specific credit -- for example, everyone who has ever been a "story editor." The "story editor" results list is sorted by the person with the most experience as a story editor, to the least. The list also indicates what the person's most recent credit is -- people who were story editors 4 years ago will be included on this list, but if their most recent credit was executive producer, they're probably not going to be interested in your story editor position (although, the business being what it is, you never know!). Clicking on an individual person's name will show you their resume and contact information.

Search by Last Name if you are trying to find contact information for someone whose name you know. Clicking on an individual person's name will show you their resume and contact information.

Try some searches, follow the links...you will get the hang of it.

SOME TIPS ON ENTERING CREDITS FOR THE FIRST TIME

Entering your credits in the proper format will ensure that they are listed properly when employers are doing searches.

You will enter one credit at a time.

Entering Show Name:

·  The only punctuation that you should use is a colon, if a colon is used in the official show name. DO NOT use commas, parentheses, or dashes, or quotation marks in the show name.

·  Do not use ALL CAPS for the show name (or for the name of the show

·  Do not use the word "The" as the first word of a show title:
RIGHT --> Restaurant, Osbournes
WRONG --> The Restaurant, The Osbournes

·  Do not use the word "Season" in the show name

·  For the first season of show, do not use the numeral "1"
RIGHT-->American Idol
WRONG-->American Idol 1, American Idol Season 1

·  To indicate seasons, use numbers, not Roman Numerals:
RIGHT--> Big Brother 4
WRONG--> Big Brother IV

·  Do not use season numbers for syndicated shows

·  DO NOT use abbreviations. Spell each word entirely.

Entering Your On-Screen Credit:

·  Please enter the on-screen credit that you actually received in the credits AS BROADCAST. Please do not exaggerate your credit (see “FAIR WARNING” at the bottom of the page).

·  If you worked on multiple seasons of a show, enter them as separate seasons:
RIGHT-->
Survivor 3 -- Editor
Survivor 4 -- Editor
WRONG--> Survivor 3&4 -- Editor

·  If you received a credit in a category that is completely unrepresented in the "on-screen credit" pull-down menu, select "other" from the pull-down menu, and type the credit that you received in the "other" text box (for example, to enter a credit as "Set Decorator" you would choose "Other" from the pull-down menu and type "Set Decorator" in the "other" text box)

·  If you received a supervisory credit (i.e. Lead Editor, Senior Story Producer, etc.), it is best to choose the closest similar credit from the pull-down menu, and add the seniority qualifier in the "other" box. For example, you would choose "Editor" from the pull-down menu and enter the word "Lead" in the "other" text box to indicate that you were the Lead Editor on a show -- but only if that is the actual on-screen credit that you received, not simply because you think you deserved to be!

Entering Date Range:

·  For each credit, enter the month/year that you started working on that show, and the month/year that you ended work on that show.

·  If you are still working on the show that is your most recent credit, enter your anticipated END date

Editing Credits

As you enter each credit, it will appear in a list at the bottom of the page. If you want to edit the credit for any reason, click on that credit that you've already entered, and it will appear in the text fields, ready for you to edit. Make the changes you want, and then click submit -- you will notice that the list at the bottom of the page now reflects the change that you made.

When you have finished entering your last credit, click [Okay, I'm done] to go to the next step.

This site is targeted at people who work in reality, and at employers who produce reality shows, but you should enter all of the credits that you deem relevant to your skill -- whether they are reality or non-reality credits -- so that employers will be able to see the full range of your experience when they look at your full resume page.
